Jared Hamman defeated C.B. Dollaway by TKO 3:38 2nd Round
My Prediction: Dollaway by TKO 2nd Round
My Rating: $$$1/2
What Happened: Dollaway seemingly had the fight in the bag as he locked in an arm triangle on Hamman during a very exciting 1st round. Hamman was able to escape and even secure a full mount position on Dollaway. In the 2nd Hamman was recovered and was able to stuff a Dollaway takedown which got him self into side control. Big knees allow Hamman to improve his position to full mount where he unloaded more ground and pound. Dollaway survives briefly but Hamman proved to be too much and forced the stoppage finish in the 2nd.
Future matchups to make: A win over Dollaway is big but Hamman will still find himself stuck in the middle of the division and won't face a top 15-20 guy just yet. A bout with Rich Attonito could help him get to that level though
Joseph Benavidez defeated Eddie Wineland by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
My Prediction: Benavidez by Decision
My Rating: $$1/2
What Happened: Although it was Wineland on paper who had the striking advantage it was Benavidez who landed a very nice combination that landed on Wineland's nose that really made the blood pour and surely broke it. In the 2nd round a missed eye poke followed up but another powerful punch to Benavidez opened up an oppourtunity for Wineland but he was unable to follow up with any more damage. Wineland did show good takedown defense when Benavidez did go for a takedown. In the 3rd is was Benavidez again controlling the standup clipping Wineland with a big shot that sent him back pedaling to the cage and was followed up with a great flying knee attempt.Ed Herman defeated Kyle Noke by Submission 4:15 1st Round
My Prediction: Herman by DecisionMy Rating: $$$
What Happened: Herman displayed a very impressive submission game attempting numerous submissions, mostly off his back. It seemed as he might of had Noke in a couple triangles and then an armbar but Noke was able to escape. It was eventually a nasty inverted heel hook that finally forced Noke to tap and end the bout.
Future matchups to make: Yoshihiro Akiyama would be a great name for Herman to face.
Ronny Markes defeated Karlos Vemola by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
My Prediction: Vemola by TKO 1st Round
My Rating: $1/2
What Happened: Surprisingly it was Markes who was the one over powering and out wrestling Vemola pretty much through all 3 rounds. Vemola wasn't really able to get his game going from the get go as he swung wildly which just opened him self up for takedowns by Markes. Although some people may say Markes played it safe he still did an excellent job in the clinch controlling Vemola while delivering some knees.
Jim Hettes defeated Alex Carceres by Submission 3:12 2nd Round
My Prediction: Jim Hettes by submission 1st roundMy Rating: $$$$
What Happened: In one of the better ground battles in recent memory Hettes attempting submission after submission until finally locking in a rear naked choke in the 2nd. In the 1st Hettes worked mostly off his back looking for leglocks but by doing so he left him self defenseless to some Carceres striking that did bloody up his nose. In the 2nd Hettes was the aggressor getting takedowns and working his top game while looking for submissions. It was during a scramble that Hettes locked in the unorthadox choke where he didn't have the hooks locked in at first and really probably didn't need too.
Future matchups to make: Leonard Garcia who was Caceres original opponent would be a great name for the rising prospect Hettes to face.
Cole Miller defeated T.J. O'Brien by Submission 2:38 2nd Round
My Prediction: Miller by Submission 2nd Round
My Rating: $$$
What Happened: O'Brien seemed to be the aggressor early in the bout but an apparent injury to O'Brien's foot or leg gave Miller the opening to come back and most likely win the 1st round. In the 2nd Miller took over knocking O'Brien with a right hand and got it down to the ground where he's excellent ground game was on display when he submitted O'Brien with a one arm guillotine.Jacob Volkmann defeated Danny Castillo by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
My Prediction: Volkmann by DecisionMy Rating: $$
What Happened: Castillo was able to get the 1st round under his belt but it was Volkmann who took control of the fight from there. Volkmann was awarded the next 2 rounds by being able to control Castillo on top while attempting numerous d'arce choke attempts, to Castillo's credit he showed great submission defense.
Future matchups to make: A bout with Mark Bocek could be a real entertaining grappling bout for Volkmann.
Edwin Figueroa defeated Jason Reinhardt by TKO :50 2nd Round
My Prediction: Figueroa by Decison
My Rating: $$1/2
What Happened: A slow start to the bout had Reinhardt egging the younger Figueroa on. Reinhardt was able to get Figueroa's back momentarily but working for the position seemed to tire him out which Figueroa took advantage of the opportunity overwhelming Reinhardt to finish the 1st round. Figueroa was able to secure mount early into the 2nd round and unload some vicious ground and pound that called for the end of Reinhardt's night.Tweet
