UFC Live 4 Preview

The 4th installment of live UFC action on Versus takes place at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  The main event features a Welterweight bout between former Middleweight title contender Nate Marquardt and newly top 10 ranked Welterweight Rick Story Heavyweight bout between Pat Barry and Chieck Kongo.  Well by now most people have heard the shocking news that Marquardt not only was not cleared to fight but was cut entirely from the UFC.  While speculation is abound I'm just going to leave it as it is and say it's a unfortunate sequence of events and will wait to hear from all the parties involved for more clarification.  For everyone keeping score though the main event went from Marquardt vs Johnson, to Marquardt vs Story, to Barry vs Kongo with Story now taking on Charlie Brenneman.

Main Event
Pat Barry vs Chieck Kongo

So our new main event features Barry who is coming a decision win over Joey Beltran and is 6-2 overall.  Kongo is coming off a disppointing draw against Travis Browne but before that he defeated Paul Buentello.

My Prediction Barry TKO 2nd Round-  After all the dusts settles on the Marquardt bombshell I think we still could get an entertaining standup battle with Barry using his legs kicks to get the better of Kongo.

Rick Story vs Charlie Brenneman 

Story returns to action after beating Thiago Alves a bout that jumped Story into the top ten rankings, he currently is on a 6 fight win streak.  Brenneman had his fight against TJ Grant cancelled due to an injury to Grant and was pulled off the card himself until Marqgate happened, he is coming off a victory over Amilcar Alves.  

My Prediction Story Decision- Most likely Story wouldn't of rushed back into action so quick for a bout against Brenneman but I still think he will be well prepared and outclass Brenneman in all facets.


 Matt Mitrione vs Christian Morecraft
Mitrione looks to jump from prospect to contender and a win over Morecraft could set him on that trail, he sits at 4-0 overall will all his wins taking place inside the octagon.  Morecraft a top prospect in his own right is coming off a submission victory over Sean McCorkle.

John Howard vs Matt Brown
This could come down to a losers leaves the UFC bout as Howard has lost 2 in a row and Brown has lost 3 in a row.

Manny Gamburyan vs Tyson Griffin
My Prediction Griffin Decision- Griffin's on thin ice to keep his job and I think that and the change in weight class will motivate him for the victory.


Joe Stevenson vs Javier Vazquez
My Prediction Stevenson Decision- Much like Griffin I think the change in weight class is going to motivate Stevenson
