Bellator returns to live action with a 3 part "Summer Series" featuring an eight man Featherweight tournament with the winner getting a shot at champion Joe Warren's belt. Taking place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, in Hollywood, Florida. the main event features Marlon Sandro one of the top ranked Featherweights in the world making his Bellator and US debut. The full main card features all 8 of the competitors in the tournament with the semi finals taking place July 23rd and the finals held on August 20th.
Main Event- Featherweight tournament Quarter-Final
Marlon Sandro vs Genair da Silva
Sandro is coming off a decision loss to Hatsu Hioki but still sits as my #6 ranked Featherweight and has a career record of 17-2. da Silva, like Sandro is also making his Bellator and US debut is currently on a 5 fight win streak and has a 10-3 career record overall.
My Prediction Sandro Submission 1st Round- I believe this fight and quite possibly this tournament is Sandro's to lose and shouldn't have much trouble with da Silva and will submit him in the 1st round.
Featherweight tournament Quarter-Final
Pat Curran vs Luis Palomino
Curran returns to Bellator dropping to the Featherweight division after losing a title shot against Eddie Alvarez. Palomino makes he Bellator debut on a 3 fight win streak and 16-6 overall.
My Prediction Curran Decision- The drop in weight should make Curran a favorite not only in just this tournament but overall in the Featherweight division and should be able to get by Palomino.
Featherweight tournament Quarter-Final
Ronnie Mann vs Adam Schindler
Mann makes his return to Bellator after his last bout qualified him for the tournament, he has won 3 in a row overall and has a 19-2-1 career record. Schindler makes he Bellator debut having won 6 in a row and is 9-1 overall.
Featherweight tournament Quarter-Final
Nazareno Malegarie vs Jacob DevreeMalegarie is making his 2nd attempt in a Bellator tournament after he fell to Daniel Straus the eventual finalists in last season's tournament, to date that is his only loss as he sits at 19-1. Devree is making he Bellator debut with a 10-1 record while on a 7 fight win streak. Although both underdogs and the lesser known matchup in the tournament these 2 should put on a good show as it's the biggest stage either fighter has been involved with.
My Prediction Malegarie Decision
