Bellator 45 Recap

The exciting season 4 of Bellator is now complete and it's finale Bellator 45 didn't not trend away from the usual excitement we have come to expect from this season.  After it was all said and done with this event we got a new Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion, a new challenger for Joe Warren's Featherweight Title and another entry into next seasons Middleweight Tournament.

Light Heavyweight Tournament Final
Christian M'Pumbu defeated Richard Hale by TKO 4:17 3rd Round
My Prediction M'Pumbu Decision
M'Pumbu becomes the first ever Bellator Light Heavyweight champion after knocking out Hale.  M'Pumbu also knocked down Hale in the first round by Hale was able to recover.  This fight seemed alot like the previous Freire vs Straus fight as the bigger fighter with the ground advantage was not able to use his strength at all. $$


Future match ups to make:
M'Pumbu-  I'd expect to see the new champ in a non-title bout during the next season, and a Light Heavyweight Tournament in the very near future.


Featherweight Tournament Final
Patricio Freire defeated Daniel Straus by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
My Prediction Freire TKO 2nd Round
Patricio looked great in this fight keeping Straus off his game through the whole fight.  Straus was never really able to use his size and get The Pitbull down.  Pitbull showed great takedown defense and was able to out strike Straus throughout the fight and even got some takedown attempts of his own.

Future matchups to make:
Freire- Now the season 4 Featherweight tournament winner Freire gains his rematch with Joe Warren for the Featherweight title later this year.


Sam Alvey defeated Karl Amoussou by Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29)
My Prediction Amoussou TKO 1st Round
After the 1st round I thought there was no way this was going to decision let along Alvey coming away with the win.  Amoussou dominated the 1st with some nice standup and an excellent trip that saw him land in full mount and landing vicious elbows that cut Alvey badly.  Alvey was able to get back in this fight as Amoussou started to fad in the 2nd and was not able to capitalize on the cuts he gave Alvey for the rest of the fight. $$$

Future match ups to make:
Alvey- Sam entered him self into the season 5 Middleweight Tournament

Amoussou-  This wasn't The Psycho's last chance to prove him self but he didn't do himself any favours with this fight,  If he stays with Bellator perhaps a fight with Joe Riggs could work. Tweet
