Bellator 45 Preview

The final edition of Bellator's season 4 will take place this Saturday at the L'Auberge du Lac Casino Resort in Lake Charles, Louisiana.  Headlined by the Light Heavyweight tournament final which will crown the first Light Heavyweight champion, Richard Hale will take on Christian M'Pumbu.  Patricio Freire and Daniel Straus meet to decide the Featherweight Tournament winner.  A qualifier for next seasons Middleweight tournament will take place as Karl Amousou faces Sam Alvey. To round out the card Thiago Santos takes on Derek Lewis in Heavyweight action.

Light Heavyweight Tournament Final
Richard Hale vs Christian M'Pumbu
Hale finds him self in the final after beating D.J. Linderman by decision and Nik Fekete by his highlight reel inverted triangle submission win.  M'Pumbu is here by beating both Tim Carpenter and Chris Davis by TKO. This fight is fairly even according to odds makers but Hale would want to avoid M'Pumbu's stand up who has the advantage there.

My Prediction M'Pumbu Decision-  To Hale's credit he is a tough guy to finish but M'Pumbu should be able to keep this fight standing and with doing so becoming the first ever Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion.

Featherweight Tournament Final
Patricio Freire vs Daniel Straus
The second Freire brother will try to do what the other couldn't and win a Bellator tournament, he got to the finals by beating Wilson Reis and Georgi Karakhanyan by TKO in the 3rd Round.  Strauss meanwhile is here by beating Kenny Foster by submission and Nazareno Malegarie by decision.  Freire is going to want to keep this fight standing and away from the much larger Straus.  Straus will want to use that mentioned size advantage to get Freire done and attempt to grind him down.

My Prediction Freire TKO 2nd Round-  I think Freire should be able to keep Straus at a distance and use his superior striking to be crowned the tournament champion

Karl Amousou vs Sam Alvey
Amousou is making his Bellator debut after having won his last fight April 1st and has a career record of 12-3-2.  Alvey, also making his Bellator debut has won 3 in a row and has a 14-2 career record.  This should be a stand up battle as Amousou is well known for his great striking and Alvey has 8 wins via T(KO).

My Prediction Amousou TKO 1st Round- I'm looking at this as Amousou's chance to finally live up to the hype he's had around him.  An impressive KO win over Alvey and entrance into Bellator's Middleweight tournament should give him that chance.

Thiago Santos vs Derek Lewis
Both fighters are making their Bellator debuts with Santos unbeaten in 3 and 8-1 overall.  Lewis has won 3 in a row also and is 4-1 overall.

My Prediction Santos TKO 2nd Round-  Not sure what to expect with this one but I'm guessing it could be a sloppy slug fest with Santos coming out on top.
