This Week In MMA History (April 24-30)

april 25 2004- Pride Total Elimination 2004 took place. First round of Pride's Heavyweight tournament. Former Pride tournmanent winner Mark Coleman took on Fedor Emelianenko in the main event which Fedor won by arm bar in the 1st round. Also winning were Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira by submission, Kevin Randleman brutally knocking out and upsetting Mirko Cro Cop and Sergei Kharitnov knocking out a delusional middleweight Murilo Rua

April 25 2003- UFC 42: Sudden Impact took place. Featured a main event of Matt Hughes vs Sean Sherk for Hughes's Welterweight title which Hughes won in a decision. Also featured Rich Franklin's UFC debut where he defeated Evan Tanner by TKO in the first round.

April 26 1984 Carlos Condit- The Natural Born Killer is the former and last WEC welterweight champion has a career record of 26-5 finishing 25 of his 26 wins by stoppage. A consensus top 10 welterweight has notable wins over Dan Hardy, Rory MacDonald, Jake Ellenberger and Frank Trigg

April 24 1978 Marcio Cruz-Pe De Peno is a highly decorated jiujitsu practitioner being a 6-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion, 5-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu National Champion, 8-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Pan-American Champion and the 2003 ADCC World Champion. A respectable 7-2 in MMA but only 1-2 in the UFC with his lone victory coming over Frank Mir

April 26 1965 Tank Abbott- A fan favorite of the early UFC events known for his ability to knockout his opponent and his lack of any traditional martial art training. Had a Career MMA record of 24-14 also worked as a professional wrestler with WCW.
