Bellator 42 Recap

Bellator 42 is in the books and it provided the usual entertaining event. With this event we have all tournament finals set for season 4 as the last 2 Semi-Final match ups in the Light Heavyweight tournament took place.

Luis Nogueira defeated Jerod Spoon by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Nogueira shows a wide range of skills here with boxing, kicks, take down defense and wrestling. He also shows he does have a good chin as Spoon clipped him pretty good as the 3rd round ended but he didn't really seemed phased. $$

Future match ups to make
Nogueira should make an excellent addition to the upcoming Season 5 bantamweight tournament.

Christian M'Pumbu defeated Tim Carpenter by TKO 2:08 of Round 1

Well we certainly knew M'Pumbu most likely had the advantage standing in the fight and he proved that without a doubt. Carpenter left a huge opening with a wide left hook that M'Pumbu countered with a right and followed up with an uppercut that floored Carpenter and left him asking what happened. Very impressive showing by M'Pumbu $$3/4

Future match ups to make
M'Pumbu is a finalists for the Light Heavyweight tournament and he awaits tonight's Hale vs match up.

Ronnie Mann defeated Josh Arocho by unanimous decision (30-25, 30-27, 30-27)

Well it wasn't the easy walk through I thought Mann would have (credit Arocho for that) but never the less Mann completely dominated this fight start to finish. Look no further than the one judge that gave 2 10-8 rounds for Mann for proof of his control of this fight. I liked even though Mann was clearly up easily in the fight he was going for the finish in the 3rd with submission attempts and ground and pound. $$

Future match ups to make
A step up in competition is in Mann's future to say the least, Wilson Reis would be a good measuring stick to where he stands in the featherweight world.

Richard Hale defeated DJ Linderman by split decision (29-28, 29-28. 28-29)

Going into this fight you would think Hale would use his big reach advantage to keep Linderman at bay and as it started it seemed like that would be the way this fight would go using legs kicks and moving well. But as it wore on Linderman was able to get inside as Hale was leaving his hands pretty low. Jimmy Smith had this fight 20-18 Linderman going into the 3rd and you could make the argument for that score as Linderman was more of the aggressor. My self I had it a round a piece and Hale finished it off by controlling the final round with some near submission attempts. $$3/4

Future match ups to make
Hale with now face Christian M'Pumbu in the Bellator Light Heavyweight tournament final
