5 Finger Knuckle SaMMAch: 5 October Fights You Can't Miss

1. Georges St. Pierre vs Carlos Condit taking place at UFC 137 (Main event) on October 29th
Different opponent for St. Pierre but still when you're one of the top 2 pound for pound fighters in the world it's hard to bump your fight off the top.  Condit by no means is a step down in opponent who perhaps is even more dangerous than Nick Diaz with a more well rounded striking game and not afraid to take the fight down to the ground and finish it there.  St. Pierre still has the questions surrounding his future at the Welterweight division and is a move to 185 and a superfight with Anderson Silva in the cards.  To even consider such a move St. Pierre (ranked #1 Welterweight) has to get by the tough and hungry Condit (ranked #3 Welterweight)

2. Frankie Edgar vs Gray Maynard taking place at UFC 136 (Main Event) on October 8th
A rematch and 3rd meeting from their last bout 8 months ago that ended in a draw which many consider the best fight of the year.  Basically putting the whole Lightweight division on hold as well as the pressure of putting on just of good performance as their UFC 125 fight both fighters will surely want to come out with a dominate fight.  Respectively ranked #1 and #2 in the Lightweight division the winner will be without a doubt be considered the best Lightweight in the world and one of the best pound for pound, and because of the delay in the outcome have a long list of contenders ready to take that new position away from them.

3. Jose Aldo vs Kenny Florian taking place at UFC 136 (Co-main event) on October 8th
An intriguing matchup and test for Aldo who is the #1 Featherweight in the world as well as a top 5 in most pound for pound rankings.  Aldo has beat some great fighters so far in his young career but Florian could be that signature win that propels him into a MMA superstar.  In what could be a muay thai battle Florian is no pushover for Aldo having been in 2 grueling UFC title fights already but the experience Aldo got from his grueling battle with Hominick could pay off in a fight like this.

4. Dominick Cruz vs Demetrious Johnson taking place at UFC Live 6 (Main event) on October 1st
Only in a month where 4 title fights take place would have this fight this far down the list.  Battle of 2 speedsters with different strengths as Cruz is the striker and Johnson is the wrestler.  Cruz is already considered the #1 Bantamweight and a top 10 in the pound for pound rankings but Johnson who just cracked into the divisions top 5 rankings is looking to take all that away from Cruz.

5. BJ Penn vs Nick Diaz taking place at UFC 137 (Co-main event) on October 29th
A switch of opponent doesn't make this fight any less important for both involved.  Diaz had his title shot against St. Pierre taking away from him and will surely be looking to do everything he can to regain the UFC's trust.  Penn now finds him self going from most likely defending aggressive takedowns from Condit to a boxing match against Diaz.  No matter the change in style of this fight the objective and goal is the same for these top 5 ranked Welterweights.
