Chris Lozano defeated Brent Weedman by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

My Prediction: Weedman by Decision

What happened: The first round went as planned for Weedman as they started out fast and Weedman dropped Lozano with a right hand and  from there was able to get multiple takedowns and secured back control to take the first frame.  Things went down hill from there for Weedman as in the 2nd Lozano was able to outstrike him using kickboxing and being able to pull the trigger first and faster than Weedman.  In the final round it was Lozano again controlling the action but this time it was on the ground and he was on top of Weedman through most of the round using body strikes and a partial full mount to secure the round.


Future matchups to make: Lozano will now meet Douglas Lima in the Semi Finals of the tournament


Ben Saunders defeated Chris Cisneros by TKO :29 3rd Round
My Prediction: Saunders by TKO 2nd Round
My Rating: $$1/2
What happened: With the first 2 rounds of this fight mostly decided on the ground with Saunders being able to control Cisneros with superior grappling but didn't inflict any really signiciant damage.  As the 3rd started though it seemed Saunders had enough and let his Muay Thai take control as he was able to secure the clinch and land some big knees that sent Cisneros to the mat and Saunders followed up with some punches for the TKO finish.


Future matchups to make: Saunders will not face Luis Santos in the Semi Finals of the tournament.

Luis Santos defeated Dan Hornbuckle by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
My Prediction: Hornbuckle by Decision
My Rating: $1/2
What happened: Inactivity and alot of feeling out was the story in this bout.  It was Santos though that was throwing with more aggression when he did as Hornbuckle seemed to not have the answer for Santos all through the fight not being able to take advantage of his reach advantage and kept to the outside most of the fight.  Santos definitely landed the most significant strike in the 3rd round with a high kick that connected to Hornbuckle's neck and stunned him.


Future matchups to make:  Santos will now face Ben Saunders in the Semi Finals of the tournament.


Douglas Lima defeated Steve Carl by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

My Prediction: Lima by TKO 2nd Round
My Rating: $$
What happened: It was Lima walking away with the Unanimous Decision victory but it was Carl who perhaps landing the most significant strike of the whole match.  27 seconds into the first round Carl landing a big over hand right that caught Lima right behind the ear that sent as Jimmy Smith put it perfect Lima on roller skates.  As he was falling to him back Lima was able to throw an up kick and even a ankle lock submission attempt as they both scrambled and Lima ended up in Carl's guard and clearing the cob webs.  After the early scare though it was Lima settling in for the rest of the fight using an effective jab and hooks while controlling the ground game and Carl's kimura attempts with ease.
