Bellator is making it's first appearance in Canada as the Summer Series continues with Bellator 47 taking place at the Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario. A main event of Joe Warren defending his Featherweight title against season 4 tournament winner Patricio Freire was unfortunately canceled due to an injury to Freire. We are however left with 2 great semi final matchups in the Featherweight tournament and a debut of a former top prospect in the Lightweight division looking to regain his past form.
Main Event
Featherweight Tournament Semi-Final
Pat Curran vs Ronnie Mann
14-4 Record 20-2-1
23 Age 24
5'9 Height 5'6
72.5" Reach 68"
146 Weight 144.75
-130 Odds +110
How they got here: Curran is coming off his Bellator Featherweight debut where he won with one of the best submissions of the year over Luis Palomino by Peruvian Necktie. Mann has now won 4 fights in a row including his first 2 with Bellator the last one being an impressive first round KO against Adam Schindler in the first round of the Featherweight tournament.
What to expect: Based off their last performances the fight of the night with these 2 Featherweights is not an outrageous expectation. Although Mann does have 11 submission victories on his record, Curran probably has the advantage on the ground so Mann will most likely want to keep this fight standing. No matter where this fight ends up, as I said we should expect a great competitive bout.
My prediction: Curran by Decision
Featherweight Tournament Semi-Final
Marlon Sandro vs Nazareno Malegarie
18-2 Record 20-1
34 Age 25
5'8 Height 5'8
67" Reach 70
145.5 Weight 145.5
Odds
How they got here: Sandro is coming off his Bellator debut, a split decision win in the first round of the featherweight tournament against Genair de Silva. Malegarie is coming off a 3rd round submission win over Jacob Devree in his tournament win.
What to expect: As alot of times when 2 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu blackbelts meet the possibility of not seeing any Jiu Jitsu is a possible scenario. Although their career records are very similar it is Sandro that has fought the better opponents and on a bigger stage. With that experience advantage I think Sandro should be able to get by the game Malgarie.
My prediction: Sandro by Decision

Zack Jensen vs Neil Grove
10-6 Record 10-3-1
26 Age 40
6'5 Height 6'6
N/A Reach 80"
263 Weight 264
+350 Odds -460
How they got here: Fight was originally scheduled for May of this year but an injury to Grove delayed it. Grove is coming off a loss to Cole Konrad in the Bellator Heavyweight tournament final which crowned Konrad the first Bellator Heavyweight champion. Jensen is coming off a win over Jason Akerman, previous to that victory however Jensen had lost 3 in a row.
What to expect: I'm pretty sure we can expect a fast pace early that could get ugly if it gets passed the first few minutes of the first round as both could loss steam fairly quick. I think the younger Jensen should be able to get the job done.
My prediction: Jensen by TKO 1st Round
Chris Horodecki vs Chris Saunders
17-3 Record 9-1
17-3 Record 9-1
23 Age 25
5'8 Height 5'8
69.5" Reach
155 Weight 155
-530 Odds +400
How they got here: Once one of the top Lightweight prospects in the world Horodecki is making his Bellator debut he won his previous bout against Danny Castillo. Before the victory Horodecki had a 2-2 record with the WEC. Saunders is also making his Bellator debut while currently on a 7 fight win streak.
What to expect: I'm sure Bellator officials are hoping for a return to form Horodecki showcasing his stand up skills and an entry in a possible future Lightweight tournament.
My prediction: Horodecki by TKO 2nd Round
