Just an outstanding performance by the new Heavyweight champion Dos Santos especially after it was later revealed he suffered from a MCL injury and was on crutches just 11 days before the fight. As already decided before his win Dos Santos will now face the winner of the Alistair Overeem vs Brock Lesnar bout at UFC 141 on December 30th, setting up a huge title fight likely in the summer of 2012. For Cain he still remains a top Heavyweight despite the loss, a matchup with the winner of the upcoming Frank Mir vs Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira bout could be in order for the former champ.
Ben Henderson defeated Clay Guida by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
As stated days before this fight the winner would face Frankie Edgar and Henderson booked him self with that very matchup thats set to headline the Febuary event in Japan. For Guida he still remains an incredibly tough opponent for just about anyone if not a talked about move to the Featherweight division a matchup with Gray Maynard could work.
Dustin Poirier defeated Pablo Garza by Submission 1:32 2nd Round
It could be time to give Poirier the type of hype Rory MacDonald has been getting. Poirier though, unlike Macdonald is already ranked in the top 10 in his respected division and will surely get a big fight reflected his position. Bart Palaszewski or Hatsu Hioki would be excellent tests for the 22 year old Poirier.
Ricardo Lamas defeated Cub Swanson by Submission 2:16 2nd Round
A great come from behind victory for Lamas who had Swanson almost submit him a round earlier. Robert Peralta who got his own victory during the same event albeit controversial would be a great matchup between the 2 Featherweights.
DaMarques Johnson defeated Clay Harvison by TKO 1:34 1st Round
A win would set Johnson back on track and not only did he get one but he did it while getting Knock Out Of The Night. TJ Waldburger would be an excellent bout between the 2 grapplers.
Darren Uyenoyama defeated Norifumi Yamamoto by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26)
Alot of people (my self included) underestimated Uyenoyama's grappling skills but that probably won't happen in the near future. Chris Cariaso would be a great test for Uyenoyama's to test his ground skills.
Robert Peralta defeated Mackens Semerzier by TKO 1:54 3rd Round
Unfortunate end to the fight, not sure if it will warrant a rematch if changed to a no contest. As already mentioned a matchup with Ricardo Lamas who also won during the event makes the most sense for both fighters.
Alex Caceres defeated Cole Escovedo by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
A great performance that not alot of people could of expected from Caceres. He still has a tough road ahead of him to keep his job with the UFC, matched up against Edwin Figueroa could turn out to be a pretty exciting fight.
Mike Pierce defeated Paul Bradley by Split Decision (30-27, 29-28, 28-29)
It wasn't the prettiest of wins but still a win none the less for Pierce. Matched up against Duane Ludwig could really bring out the best in Pierce.
It wasn't a fight of the night performance but it's going in the right direction for Rosa. Re-scheduling a matchup with Fabio Maldonado would be a great fight between the 2 strikers.
