5 Finger Knuckle saMMAch: 5 September Fights That Are On The Radar

1. Jon Jones vs Quinton Jackson taking place at UFC 135 on Sepetember 24th
No real surprise here what the top fight of this month would be.  Champion Jon Jones will be making his first title defense against none other than former UFC champion Rampage Jackson.  A great combination of hype surrounds this fight as people want to see if Jones can really live up to the hype and whenever Rampage is involved it seems he has the ability to create even more of a spotlight on his bouts.  He recently has done so by stirring the pot as he has claimed that Jones's camp has sent spies to his training camp in Colorado, Jones and his people obviously have denied these claims.  Of course with title fights comes rankings spots also on the line with Jones as the #1 Light Heavyweight and #3 Pound for Pound and Jackson in as the #4 Light Heavyweight the winner of this bout will definitely see their stock soar.

2. Sergei Kharitonov vs Josh Barnett taking place at Strikeforce September 10th
The main event of Strikeforce's next event has a birth into the final of the Heavyweight tournament on the line. The winner of this bout could really position them selves as the favorite to win the whole tournament especially with former Strikeforce Heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem being removed from it.  The winner of this bout should see them selves jump up the rankings as Barnett has recently entered the top 10 while Kharitonov is right on his heels.

3. Antonio Silva vs Daniel Cormier taking place at Strikeforce September 10th
The other semi-final tournament bout took a bit of a hit with the withdrawal of Alistair Overeem but none the less is still is an important bout.  Silva is coming off his biggest win of his career over Fedor Emelianenko which jumped him up the rankings to currently sitting as the #6 Heavyweight.  Cormier on the other hand has been paying his dues on the smaller Strikeforce shows or overshadowed by the main event finally gets a huge test and will be wanting to make a huge statement that he isn't a prospect anymore...he is a challenger.

4. Ronaldo Souza vs Luke Rockhold taking place at Strikeforce September 10th
Before the big boys of the Heavy Weight tournament collide we get to see one of the best Middleweights and Jiu Jitsu practioners in the world Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza in action as he takes on Luke Rockhold.  Souza is currently ranked #5 among Middleweights and much like alot of other Strikeforce stars will be looking to eventually position himself into a UFC roster spot.  Rockhold however would love to put a stop to Jacare, as he has won 6 fights in a row all with Strikeforce, but has been out of action for well over a year.

5. Jake Shields vs Jake Ellenberger taking place at UFC Fight Night 25 September 17th
Jake Shields is not only looking to get back on track after falling to champion Georges St. Pierre he also has had the difficulty of dealing with the recent passing of his father Jack Shields who also was Jake's manager.  Ellenberger has quietly become a threat in the Welterweight division having recently been bumped up into #10 in the rankings.  With St. Pierre taking on Nick Diaz and BJ Penn facing Carlos Condit any of those 4 should expect one of these Jake's to be waiting in the wings to get a crack at them.
