Bellator 43 Preview

While the MMA world is perhaps suffering from a UFC 129 hangover, Bellator is set to return to live action with the first Tournament Final to headline Bellator 43.

Welterweight Tournament Final
Rick Hawn vs Jay Hieron
Hawn, undefeated at 11-0 got to the finals by beating Jim Wallhead by decision and Lyman Good by split decision. Hieron sitting at 21-4 and 9 in a row got to the finals by beating Anthony Lapsley by rear naked choke and most recently Brent Weedman by decision.

My Prediction Hieron by Decision-Hieron will punch his ticket for a title shot against Ben Askren using his better striking and jiujitsu against Hawn.

Bryan Baker vs Joe Riggs
Baker, the former Bellator Middleweight tournament finalists looks to build off his most recent win which was a decision over Jeremy Horn. Riggs, a veteran of 48 MMA bouts is most recently coming off a lose to Canadian prospect Jordan Mein.

My Prediction Baker Decision

Chase Beebe vs Jose Vega
Beebe will be making his Bellator debut and holds a 17-7 record with 14 of those victories coming way of submission. Vega is sporting a 9-4 record and will be making his 4th appearance with Bellator, he was a competitor in the bantamweight tournament losing a split decision to Ed West.

My Prediction Beebe Submission 2nd Round- This probably will be decided on the ground with Beebe getting the best of Vega with a submission.

Vince Lucero vs Ron Sparks
With Neil Grove injured this fight finds it's way onto the main card. Lucero has lost 4 in a row coming into this bout and has a less than stellar 19-19 career record. Sparks is undefeated at 6-0. Sparks has had a few fights fall apart the last year due to injuries including a match up with Bobby Lashley.

My Prediction Sparks TKO 1st Round
